Pizza Fundraiser Date Change; Open House Update

January 29, 2010 by kkasperekba

Please note a change on our hot lunch menu:

The Junior Class Pizza Fundraiser is now scheduled for 2/26, instead of 2/19 as shown on a previous menu.

If your student was signed up for the regular hot lunch on Feb. 19, before the pizza date had been confirmed, then that order will be used and he/she will be counted in the final tally for that day. The menu for 2/19 is Turkey gravy and mashed potatoes. While you may put the Pizza lunch on your lunch account, a separate order form is required; please look for it sometime around February 18th. For a copy of the updated February 2010 menu CLICK HERE.

If you have any questions regarding your order, please contact Jean Figi in the Bethany Academy Office. Thank you.

Open House Update

We are truly blessed by the response to our Open House last night! There was a great turn-out and parents really connected with our staff and our mission. Thank you to all who were involved from students to parents and staff. We thank you for your continual prayer support as we lift up our enrollment needs to the Lord. Please continue to pray for these families as they pursue the journey of making Christian education a priorty for their children.

Parent Recruitment Packets

Word-of mouth has always been the most effective form of marketing our school. We are so grateful for the many families who have come to Bethany Academy through parent referrals.

To assist you in your recruitment efforts we will continue to offer our Recruitment Referral Credit of $500. per student. This $500. referral credit is our way of thanking you and it will be credited to your account after the new family has paid their 2nd month of tuition at BA.

We’d like to encourage you to invite families to our Open House  at 7pm on Thursday, January 28.  We will also be providing you with a new parent referral packet to give to families. These will be available at the beginning of February.

We ask you now to prayerfully consider which of your friends and family members would benefit from taking a closer look at Bethany Academy as a school choice for their children. Your passion and enthusiasm for Bethany Academy is the testimony that encourages families to step out in faith and consider Christian education as a viable option for their family.

Homecoming Review; State of the School Address #3, Elementary Pick-Up

January 19, 2010 by twhitsonba

Homecoming Review

What an amazing week! The students displayed their school spirit with great enthusiasm and creativity, our teams were extraordinary, and it was fabulous to have so many Alumni return for the Homecoming festivities.

Throughout last week we shared a few quotes from our Senior class  about what  school spirit means.  Now that Spirit Week is over we don’t want to  stop celebrating God’s provision at Bethany Academy.  We want to continue the Bethany  spirit! So here are a few more quotes from our Seniors to help us move into Finals Week.  Look for more in the weeks to come.

School Spirit means to be devoted and passionate about your school, and to show it by being uplifting in your classes and in sports – Nick Tousley

School Spirit means to have a good attitude about school.  It is how we express ourselves and the pride we have in being able to go to this school  – Jaclyn Merry

School Spirit means to support the school and each other – Joseph Sovine

School Spirit means  loving your school and having passion to help it – Cara Francisco

School Spirit means to have a contagious presence and attitude that draws people to join in.  It means being involved and encouraging others.  It means  being a leader.   – Janelle Flom

State of the School Communication #3

In the State of the School Address last September, we recognized the importance of moving forward in obedience to God.  This means we are not to look left or right but straight ahead.  In remembering what we are really trying to accomplish by addressing the underlying issue of growing enrollment, we have made the following progress toward achieving our strategic goals.

Where we are now!

Enrollment:

Retention:

We continually review our processes to ensure parents that their current students are receiving the highest academic rigor and spiritual foundation that we can provide.  In the 2009-2010 school year, we have made progress in many areas:

  • Implementation of bench mark testing grades K-9. This allows teachers to monitor progress and identify areas of growth for each student throughout the year, thus, providing teachers with a proactive means of instructing our students.
  • Academic rigor is being reviewed and critical thinking exercises are being applied across all subject matter to train and prepare our students to be salt and light in the world.
  • Higher standards of excellence from the Staff, Faculty, and students
  • Greater transparency from the Board and Administration through increased communication in all aspects

 Recruitment:

We are looking at how to attract new students as well as areas in which we can benefit from the support of Christian education.

  • We are in preparation of a parental marketing packet, which will provide our families the tools necessary in promoting Bethany Academy to prospective new families. (January)
  • We are preparing for our Open House on January 29th by sending invitations to pre-schools, K-8 and K-6 schools, placing ads on KTIS, KKMS, and in print, and hanging posters in coffee shops and high traffic bulletin boards.
  • We have been on the ground level in the creation of a Christian School coalition in the promotion of Christian education in the southwest metro.
  • We are participating monthly in a KKMS radio program at 3pm on Saturday’s where we speak to the importance of Christian education in our world today.

 Living the Legacy Campaign

Through the Living the Legacy Campaign, we have been learning about Bethany Academy’s history and how we might fit into the story.  The Living the Legacy Campaign is this  generation’s opportunity to act in obedience by giving sacrificially  over the next 3-5 yrs to continue the legacy of our founding fathers.  This is important to our ability to impact, the world for Christ well into the future.

 Pray, Engage, and Act

This is how you can help.  We are indeed moving ahead, trusting God that these efforts and your prayers will make your efforts easier.  Additional enrollment allows us to focus on the things we want to do and become.  But most importantly, pray that God will put new families in your path and that these tools will adequately prepare you to respond to these opportunities.  Continue to pray with your fellow Bethany families by  lifting our school and the Living the Legacy campaign up before the Lord.

Thank you for your dedication to Bethany Academy and Christian education.  Without Bethany Academy there are precious few alternatives for children to receive a quality education with a biblical worldview and the spiritual nurturing needed to truly impact the world for Christ.

Elementary Pick Up

Please remember when picking up your elementary child to fully park your vehicle in a parking spot rather then sitting along side the West side driveway.  Primarily this is for the safety of our students.  Idling cars along side the West Drive not only make a safety hazard but they also cause congestion for thru traffic.  Bethany Academy and Bloomington Baptist would appreciate your immediate cooperation.  Thank you

January 15, 2010 by kkasperekba

Secondary 7-12 Grade Finals

9-12 grade finals are comprehensive and provide a college preparatory learning experience for our students. Following in that practice, students are encouraged to complete the finals in the time allowed.

Rules to remember during finals week:

Students do not need to be at school when they don’t have a final scheduled.

Students are NOT allowed to be in the halls while finals are going on.

Students are required to remain in the classroom when they complete their finals unless they are leaving the building (i.e., it is their last final of the day).

This reduces distraction and puts less pressure on other students to hurry to finish.

Remind your students to bring a book or other study materials in case they finish early.

Spanish Tour

Hola Bethany Academy parents of Spanish students,

The Spanish 1, 2, 3 and 4 classes would like to give you a tour of their trip to a Spanish speaking country.  They would like to share with you the culture and the attractions they experienced while they were there.  We will be giving tours in the cafeteria on Wed. the 20th between 1:30 and 2:50, Thursday 21st between 10:40 and 12:05 and Friday the 22nd between 10:40 and 12:05.  Gracias!  Tenga un gran dia!
